Stem cells for healing of a skin and growth of haires ...
The skin which cells are continuously updated, is known for the ability to neogenesis. This ability draws for a long time steadfast attention of the researchers interested in mechanisms of processes of healing.Scientists of university of Toronto and children's hospital SickKids (Canada, a province of Ontario), working under the guidance of professor Fredy Miller (Freda Miller), have promoted a step closer to understanding of regenerative ability of a skin. They identified for the first time stem cells localised in a derma - the basic layer of a skin which are settling down under a thin layer of a false skin. Results of their work are published in December number of magazine Cell Stem Cell in article «SKPs Derive from Hair Follicle Precursors and Exhibit Properties of Adult Dermal Stem Cells».
Authors have established, that so-called dermal cells-predecessors as a matter of fact are stem cells, that is possess ability to turn to cells of different types. According to results of research, these cells are capable to restore a derma and participate in process of healing of wounds.
According to professor Miller, that dermal cells-predecessors have appeared endogenous dermal stem cells, it is no wonder, as in derma structure enters set of the various components consisting of cells of different type, including blood vessels, fatty cells and nerves.
Experiments have shown, that studied cells not only support viability of a skin and heal wounds, but also provide growth of hair follicles. Miller explains, that they carry out a role of the "conductors" specifying to cells of a false skin where to generate a hair follicle.
Authors hope, that the results received by them will open new prospects for area of cellular therapy activly developed now, and in particular for use own stem cells of the patient at treatment of various diseas
