Nuts improve vision of old men ...

NutsOne-two handfuls of nuts in a week can lower risk of development of the blindness bound with the years, on 35 %, scientists from Australia confirm. It appears, nutrition in which contain omega-3 fat acids, reduce risk of occurrence of an age macula degeneration which leads to a loss of sight older persons.

The Australian scientists from university of Sydney have carried out research and have found out, that 1-2 portions of nuts in a week reduce risk of development of an age macula degeneration on 35 % in 10 years. The use of fish of times in a week reduced risk of development of this condition leading to blindness, on 31 %. Scientists consider, that fat acids can protect eyes, preventing formation of plaques in arteries or reducing an inflammation, and also a vasifaction and damage of cells of the retina, bound to oxygen.

As a result scientists have concluded: "Our opening confirm a hypothesis that consumption augmentation omega-3 polynonsaturated fat acids, and also the regular use in nutrition of fish and-or nuts can protect the person from development of an age macula degeneration". Researchers consider, that it is necessary to carry out additional researches to define, whether there will be a change of a diet or the reference of additives effectual measures for prevention or retardation of development of a macula degeneration at people of advanced age. Results of this research have been described in magazine Archives of Ophthalmology.

In the same magazine other research in which scientists have found out has been published, that the people using an olive oil in rather considerable quantities - 100 milliliters or more in a week - suffered from an age macula degeneration and the loss of sight bound to it less often. An age macula degeneration this condition at which the central sight as eyeground cells degenerate in due course is lost, or there there are new blood vessels which bleed. In Britain nearby 500000 persons suffer from this disease, and half from them have in full or in part lost sight as a result of illness.
