The American researchers have found out a smoking role in formation of inflammatory processes in an organism. It has appeared, that the cigarette smoke influences key enzyme in the air channel which is responsible for reaction of an organism to inflammations.Research of scientists from University of Alabama is published in online edition Science Express before the publication in authoritative magazine Science. In it it is informed, that the smoke influences on leukotrienes А4-гидролаза (LTA4H) - cytosolic enzyme which supervises reaction of an organism to various inflammatory processes. The cigarette smoke as though "switches off" this enzyme that leads to that white bloody cells do not stop even after successful reaction to inflammations.
Researchers have defined earlier unknown substrate LTA4H - a proline-glitsin-PROLINE (PGP). In turn, PGP will mobilise white bloody cells for struggle against the reason of inflammations. When their work is finished, LTA4H switches off PGP, thereby stopping organism reaction.
"We have found out, that the cigarette smoke inhibits LTA4H, that does not allow to switch off PGP, - the author of research Edwin Blalock has declared. - Constant presence PGP means continuation of reaction of an organism, and it is an infinite cycle which supports chronic inflammatory processes".
Blalock has noticed, that PGP is a biomarker of some diseases of lungs in which there are chronic inflammatory processes, like a cystic fibrosis. Definition of role PGP can have great value for creation of new antiinflammatory medicines.
