Brain cooling at carrying out of cardiopulmonary resusc ...

Brain coolingCooling of a brain of the patient at carrying out in the car of first aid of cardiopulmonary resuscitation enlarges its chances to survive without disturbances of cerebral activity, results of new research of the American scientists testify.
In case of a sudden cardiac standstill human body blood supply, including a brain stops. And even if efforts animators crown success, patients often have disturbances of cerebral activity.

But several years ago researchers have established, that at carrying out of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in clinical conditions artificial cooling of a body of the patient, and first of all a brain, can lead to more favorable consequences.

"Fast and immediate cooling of a brain at cardiopulmonary resuscitation is crucial for a successful outcome", - has told in interview Ueb-em-DI the doctor of medicine Carsten from Karolinsky institute in Stockholm.
Usually in clinics for cooling of a body of the patient coverlets and linings are used, but this way is inconvenient and a lot of time which so is precious in case of a sudden cardiac standstill demands. Therefore occurrence of device RhinoChill of manufacture of company BeneChill which financed the carried out researches, has opened new possibilities for salvage of a life of people. Company BeneChill makes medical devices and is based in San Diego.

The new device excludes any injections - with its help the cooling structure is entered into a human body through nasal passage, starting to operate immediately. And if cardiopulmonary resuscitation has begun within 10 minutes after a cardiac standstill the advantage of cooling procedure essentially increases. Besides, the device works on batteries that is very convenient for doctors.

During carrying out of new research at 37 percent from 182 patients who have passed animators with use of the portable cooling device, good restoration of neurologic functions has been noted at an extract from clinic, in comparison with only 18 percent at the patients, passed resuscitation without application of this device.
However in 18 cases adverse reaction to this method of cooling has been fixed: in three cases the nasal bleeding was observed, and 13 patients had disturbance of colour of a skin of a nose, but later colour of an integument was completely restored.

Now, having such device, ambulance surgeons can use it directly on a place where the patient had a sudden cardiac standstill, or in an ambulance car, thereby raising chances of salvage not only lives of the patient, but also on conservation of normal functions of a brain.
